After finishing up a gig storyboarding over at Nick on El Tigre I spent the last week thinking about and drawing Kitty Bobo. The result is this 50 page electrobooklet here.
liked the way the "Kitty Bobo" pilot was handled. Did you make him younger? He seemed to be more like 16-18 in the pilot. I didn't realize there was a whole social dog-cat bend to the show.
What happened to the female cat friend that works in the office?
Hey Kevin! It's Sean from El Tigre. I vaguely remember Kitty Bobo, but I didn't know it was you. This new guide is awesome though. Very simple yet effective. I also love the single sketch story ideas. You should come back and visit so we can have a ping pong match, we can only play after 6 now though. Later, Sean seanszeles.blogspot.com
I really enjoyed lookinf at those new sketches. It's a great metaphor. I never heard of the show before (I don't have TV cable). Is there a quicktime somewhere?
I've heard a lot about the animated Kitty Bobo, but never did get to see it. Now I really, really wish I had. Hope there is more to come. Love your map of the city in the booklette. And yes, every one does want to be a MC it seems...
I saw the short during the Big Pick too. I really had hoped Kitty Bobo would win, but sadly, KND was more appealing to most it seems. Would really like to see it on television again one day! Keep up the good work! Nice sketches and ideas you have.
Everyones already said it so I s'pose theres not point in repetition. But yeah I really hope this gains momentum, it would be nice to see animation with both non trite artistic styling and nonretreded character personalities. ...And a closet that doesnt have the same set of clothing.
I remember this show, and I actually voted for it in the big pick! Me and my friends used to obsess over that pilot episode, and quote it all the time. I was shocked when KND won over this show, and am glad to see there is still some interest in the show. I hope it does make it on the small screen, even though I don't really watch too many cartoons anymore. One thing though, I think the angle where he is 17 or 18 would work better than him being 12. Nice background story though!
Hey man, Great to see Kitty Bobo again. I also had a pilot at the same time as you called Swaroop and I really thought yours was the best of the bunch. I was really surprised that it did not win the contest. Kids Next Door was not near the film your was. Ah well I hope it sees a new light somewhere or that you get the chance to do more in the future. Best of luck! -Mike Milo http://blog.animationinsider.com
i love this. I immediately thought this show was a metaphor for asian-american "twinkies" when I read it. I saw the pilot on YouTube and saw that there were tons of asian american voice actors. So I'm left to wonder, or I guess I'd like to know more in depth what your intentions were with making this show. I just fell in love with it and related to it immediately, growing up asian in a predominantly white neighborhood in the south.
Gosh! After seeing that I had to do some fanart! I love that Bobcat girl that kitty Bobo's all crushing on! It's really interesting to find out more about the plot. Well good luck! I REALLY REALLY hope it becomes a show!
This brought back a lot of memories. I remember seeing that show and I absolutely loved it. I'm not sure anyone posted this, but you could try pitching it to Adult Swim. Anyway, it's awesome seeing Kitty Bobo again.
omg, i found it, 11years later...i always hum the tune in my head once every few years, but could never find it awesome sauce i did...now i can watch the pilot again ^^
Please bring Kitty Bobo back. I still remember the end song and it has been in my head for years now. If anyone can tell me how to download it it would be much appreciated.

Great to see Kitty Bobo stuff again! I noticed the dog parents in the original and I like going further with the adoption angle. Very creative!
I really loved the pilot- my friends and I still quote it from time to time.
